Abstract:

In this tutorial, we will first introduce the symbolic and statistical methods that have been researched over the last three decades to capture knowledge. Next, we will describe the key techniques in Generative AI, focusing on Transformers and Large Language Models as well as Diffusion Models. We will present the many multimodal foundation models that have been proposed so far and how to adapt them in practical industrial cases (fine-tuning, prompt engineering, instructions-tuning, etc.). We will detail applications of LLMs, for document understanding, text, image and video generation, or even software code understanding and creation. We will finally discuss ethical considerations, technical challenges, regulatory and societal impact of Generative AI before concluding with an outlook of emerging trends and opportunities.
