Learning activity 2: Smart learning, smart pedagogies, smart instructional design
In the second learning activity, the aim is to explore, study themes and concepts related to the design of smart learning environment. There are four tasks in this learning activity.
Task 1:
Step 1: Select a topic for the task
Select one learning environment from the following list:
Step 2: Find information related to the topics
Please use the references in the following pages TELE , ALE , CULE , SLE as a starting point for your information gathering task. Also search additional information about the selected learning environment from internet sources.
Step 3: Create a presentation about the topic
Your task is to create a presentation related to a topic that you have selected. Few options to consider for creating and sharing the presentation;
- Prezi; https://prezi.com/
- Sway; http://www.sway.com
- Office Mix for creating interactive online videos; https://mix.office.com/ . However, Office Mix is currently only available on Microsoft PCs.
Those who will create a video presentation or add audio to their presentation will definitely receive more points than those who will submit only Power Point or PDF presentation.
Your presentation must answer the following questions about the learning environment:
- Enter the learning environment using simple words. What is the basic idea of this learning environment?
- In your opinion, what is the focus or what can be taught in this learning environment? What are the specific educational goals?
- Identify the learning settings (formal or informal) that is suitable for this learning environment?
- Identify the main features of this learning environment. Why is it different from other learning environments?
- What are the main advantages of this learning environment?
- What are the main disadvantages (if any) of this learning environment?
- What are the impacts of the learning environment in real life?
- Identify at least two concrete examples of the learning environment in real life authentic learning settings (implemented learning environments). Describe for each example, why you think it fits that category (TELE, ALE, CULE, SLE).
Please remember to add and use references in your presentation!
Step 4: Share the presentation
Add the presentation to the introduction to learning environments and characteristics - discussion forum.

Task 2:
The purpose of this task is to discuss about the learning environment presentations posted to the learning environments and characteristics - discussion forum.
You are able to gain course points in the following way
1) Post a question or comment related to other students' post in the discussion forum, 2 points
2) Answer a question or continue existing discussion in the discussion forum, 3 points.
You are able to ask questions and add comments to the presentations until the end of the course, March 1st.

Points: 5 points
Task 3:
Step 1: Identify at least 5 example resources (webpage, videos, images, contents, articles, reports, etc.) that can be classified as smart learning object, content, pedagogy, environment.Step 2: Add the resources to the Resource Glossary page.
Step 3: Add your name to the end of the contents.

Task 4:
Complete this task in a group of 3 - 4 students!
Use the team formation - forum to discuss with your pairs to form a group. You need at least 3 members, and maximum of 4 members to make a group. The list of team members can be found in the Team - page.
Signup as a tutor in the following learning platform: https://seli.uazuay.edu.ec/
Using all the concepts of smart learning that you have learned in this module:
- Create a course on the learning platform. The course title must contain, DSLE-2020 (for example, "Programming 101 - UR-DSLE-2020")
- Add all information shown in the course setup page, including course information, course requirements, and course organization.
- Create a short lesson, practicing your skill with - learning contents, objects, and metadata.
- Signup as a student on the learning platform: https://seli.uazuay.edu.ec/ to subscribe and view your course.
- Compile a freeform report about your course showing different screenshot images of the course contents and pages. Submit the report here
